I have been in the field of Early Child Education for over 30 years. My very first paying job, at age 11, was as an Au Pair to a lovely little boy who needed care at home while his parents were growing their business. I believe I earned the impressive salary of $2 per hour. Since that time I have dabbled in retail sales and food service but always seemed to be drawn back to teaching. At 19 I discovered the field of Child Development by accident, it was offered as a combination class with English 1A, and so began my career path. I come from a long line of teachers but have found my own niche in the teaching of young children.
I have lived in Sonoma county for three and a half decades. I graduated with honors from El Molino High School and went on to attend Santa Rosa Junior College. In my youth I was a Girl Scout and continued volunteering in Scouting both with Girl and Boy Scouts into adulthood. I have been a Troop Leader, Program Trainer and Day Camp Director.
Professionally I have over 20 years of experience as a teacher. I am knowledgeable in the application of the California Common Core Alignment for preschool, The Tool Box, Trauma Informed Care and a wide variety of other related topics. I believe that children learn best by experiencing the world so I challenge myself to bring in relevant materials and build programs and curriculum that are meaningful to my students, their families and the broader school community.
I have two wonderful children. My son is an adult and my daughter is a teenager. As a parent my greatest joy has been in watching my children grow and explore with the help of dedicated teachers and rich school environments.
